PANOS KALTSAS
In the Acheloos Delta and its valley, protected by the Ramsar Convention, there is a unique wetland, a landscape of wild natural beauty, home to blackbirds, snakeheads, cormorants, cormorants, silver pelicans, stridefans, wild horses and many other species, a place full of sand dunes which is constantly changing due to siltation.
This area is just a few kilometers from my town, Agrinio. As I wanted to explore and understand this place better, I started in 2018 to systematically photograph and get to know the few human fishermen and fish farms workers who live and survive in these areas today, mainly against the logic of astyphilia (i.e., the tendency of rural populations to move to the urban centers)
Walking and photographing in these areas, I see this small, beautiful and strange homeland that I often visited as a child.
