On the edge of the city

On the outskirts of the city of Chios, lies a dull and uninteresting land of unspecified use, where the less privileged families are striving to build houses equal to those of other more fancy areas. The strong desire of creating a “nest” is reflected in all these bizarre decorations and unusual details that won’t be found in any home magazine. The place creates its own original fashion and its own aesthetics.
In places like this, human constructions and natural landscape seem to turn the back to each other and live their own independent lives. While people pay no attention to the unattractive surroundings, nature keeps on blossoming, bearing fruit and caring of its inhabitants, ignoring the inevitable end that is approaching.
