The prefecture of Larissa contains nearly 170 villages, hamlets, communities, and towns. In 2008 I visited different areas of the prefecture to photograph the rural life and daily life of the people of the prefecture of Larissa. On a daily basis, always in the afternoon and after work, I took my camera and drove within the limits of the prefecture. Most of the time, I didn’t have a specific destination. The decision to visit a place was based on simple criteria like its name and location, or even sounds that reveal that a human presence was nearby. What excited me the most, was the opportunity to create new images in an environment that was neither alien to me nor completely familiar.
Many times, I had to explain why I was there. I photographed these people in their daily life. Living in a city I perceive everyday life there differently than the people I photographed. I felt that simple moments contained within them all the beauty of this world… These people, with their hospitality, simplicity, and calmness, gained my respect and touched my heart.
