My love for football, and the passion to explore the Laconian countryside, have set the scene for me to become a loyal fan of local football fields. Starting in the city of Sparta, I photographed matches of the lower division of the local league, in villages where the number of inhabitants, the existence of a field and a certain financial contribution made possible the existence of a football team. I became a spectator of a peculiar league, devoid of financial interests, big ambitions and ‘stars’.
